A new Greater Piedmont Region Housing Gap Analysis has been released, offering an important look at housing affordability, availability, and future needs across our region. The study notes that while population growth has supported a strong local economy and active housing market, housing costs have risen much faster than household incomes.
Among the findings, only 5% of homes available for sale as of March 2026 were affordable to the region’s median-income household. The report also identifies significant needs for rental homes at $1,250 or less per month, homes priced below $525,000, and affordable senior housing.
