Greater Piedmont REALTORS®spoke up for housing access in Madison County.
In a letter to Congressman Eugene Vindman, GPR raised concerns about a significant reduction in Madison County’s FHA loan limit. The limit dropped in early 2026 from $1,209,750 to $541,287, following the county’s loss of its high-cost area designation.
GPR asked Congressman Vindman to investigate how the loan limits were calculated and why Madison County lost the designation despite continued increases in local home prices.
For REALTORS®, this matters because FHA financing can be an important pathway to homeownership. A lower loan limit can reduce financing options for some buyers and potentially affect transactions in the county.
This is advocacy at work. GPR is monitoring policies and lending issues that affect your clients, your business, private property, and access to homeownership—and making sure the REALTOR® perspective is heard when those decisions are made.
